TURKISH’S REVIVAL MOVEMENT ASSOCIATION

Turkish’s Revival Movement Association has been founded by Yalçın Mıhçı and Suat Özer to steer and enhance the Turkish language towards its esteemed and deserved status through proper channels by accepting and embracing heart-filled non-political volunteers from all walks of life. Our main principle is to take one step ahead to fulfill the language revolution that had been initiated by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk who once said “Being a Turk means Turkish language” and “How happy is the one who says I am a Turk.”

Turkish’s Revival Movement (TDH: TÜRKÇENİN DİRİLİŞ HAREKETİ), established in 2010, has grown up to be the biggest Turkish language community followed by the all diasporic Turks and Turkic nationals all over the world. About 5 years after this action has been on the move, its legal body named Turkish’s Revival Movement Association (TDHD: TÜRKÇENİN DİRİLİŞ HAREKETİ DERNEĞİ) has acquired the civil society organization (NGO) status in June 10, 2016. The TDHD is one of the most efficient and influential NGOs in Turkey, and has been honored with the “Most Influential Social Media in Turkish World” award in 2016. This is the natural result of having serious TDHD followers from USA, Canada, Europe, Africa, Russia, and Turkic States in Central Asia, China, Australia and Arab states. With millions of members and followers, its monthly post reach is up to 25-30 millions. TDH Association provides extra-ordinary contributions and enhancements by the works of hundreds of social scientists, researchers and educators who study and conduct researches about the Turkish language, Turkish history and Turkish culture.

Turkish’s Revival Movement Association is the only legal entity that is able to actualize TURKISH LANGUAGE UNITY that has been worked on, longed for and aspired for years among the Turkic republics and states. Up until the date almost all the language unity efforts have yielded no results or ended in failures. TDHD has been very close to achieve this unity by embracing Turkish speaking world because our movement is the one that is spread to fundamental substructures of the people and general public in Turkish speaking countries who have deep love for their language.

Here at the TDHD we have achieved important results in improving and developing new words in spoken Turkish language. For example, we offered a replacement Turkish word “tanıtı” for a commonly used word “tabela” of Italian origin. This new replacement Turkish word has been put in use by our members without any hesitation. “Selfie” is one of the other foreign words commonly used recently in Turkish by people from all walks of life. We offered a new replacement word “özçekim” for it. It has been quickly accepted and put in circulation in daily language usage. It has received the highest rating in a contest and approval of the Turkish Language Society. Additionally, we offered genuine Turkish words “Bilimyurdu” and “Sunuştay” as replacements for “university” and “conference” respectively. These words have been carefully put in use in daily conversation by young people. As a replacement for #tbt (Throwback Thursday) which is one of the most popular hashtags of recent years, our proposal #hgg (hey gidi günler) hashtag has acquired a big reception in the social media and started to spread quickly. Young Turkish people have been already using #hgg hashtag in place of #tbt. Many genuine Turkish words that we proposed for usage like “topraktaş” (of the same land=citizen), “özlence” (nostalgia) and “izleti” (video) have stated to take their rightful place in the daily Turkish conversations. We believe that hundreds of correct and verified words that we suggest will diffuse and start to circulate in Turkish language by the bigger masses. We won’t accept using foreign words as long as there is a correctly corresponding Turkish word.

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of modern Turkish Republic, has dedicated the 23rd day of April, the first commencement day of Turkish Grand National Assembly, to children and named the Children’s Holiday in Turkey. The Children’s Holiday is a unique and only special day in the world that Atatürk dedicated to children who are the future leaders of the world. A similar inspirational example is also pronounced by Atatürk: “Peace at home, peace in the world”.

Being in the pursuit of Atatürk’s principals, we, the executive officers at Turkish’s Revival Movement Association, have already requested UNESCO and UNICEF that the festivities of Children’s Holiday in Turkey on April 23rd are to be shared and celebrated also by all children all over the world by naming that day as the World’s Children Day.
